Keep in mind: I love both Robert Cardinal Sarah AND Raymond Cardinal Burke.
As much as I think Robert Cardinal Sarah is a great Traditionalist Conservative candidate to be the 267th Pope, here is a reason why I think Raymond Cardinal Burke is a more Traditionalist, more Conservative, and more qualified Traditionalist Conservative candidate to be the 267th Pope.
Burke and Sarah are extremely similar with one another on most issues.
But when it comes to liturgy, there are some significant differences. It was liturgy that was the ultimate deciding factor as to deciding between Sarah and Burke.
While very Conservative, and somebody who favors Traditionalist Catholicism very frequently, Sarah is also more relativistic and liberal when it comes to liturgy in general. He allows for an equal co-existence between the Novus Ordo Mass and the 1970 Roman Missal versus the 1962 Roman Missal and the Tridentine Mass. That's very problematic.
In 2016, he is quoted as saying: "Readers and listeners should face each other during the Liturgy of the Word, he said." This means he is willing to allow the 1970 Roman Missal and the Novus Ordo Mass, which is very unacceptable.
He also wrote in 2016: "I refuse to waste our time pitting one liturgy against another or the rite of Saint Pius V against that of Blessed Paul VI." That is, again, very problematic because the Novus Ordo Mass and the 1970 Roman Missal are not valid, and they are Jewish Illuminati Masonic creations, whereas the Tridentine Mass (the rite of Saint Pius V) is the exact opposite. This is also very insensitive to the concerns of many Traditionalist Catholics who are concerned about how much Modernism, the Second Vatican Council, the Novus Ordo Mass, and the 1970 Roman Missal has led to severe and extreme liturgical abuse, which has inflicted so much damage on the faith life of many Catholic faithful.
In July 2017, he wrote in the French magazine La Nef that he wanted the two forms of the Roman-Rite liturgy (the Novus Ordo Mass and the Tridentine Mass) whose use is authorized by the 2007 papal document Summorum Pontificum to have the same calendar of feasts and the same Scripture readings. This further demonstrates he has a significant amount of liberalism and relativism on this particular matter (the Holy Mass) which is detrimental and destructive to the Catholic faith, and especially the Holy Mass itself.
Burke, on the other hand, is NOT liberal nor relativistic about liturgy nor the Holy Mass in general, and does NOT allow for an equal co-existence between the Novus Ordo Mass and the Tridentine Mass. In fact, Burke wants the Novus Ordo Mass and the 1970 Roman Missal abolished, and he wants the Tridentine Mass and the 1962 Roman Missal (as well as the 1570 Roman Missal) to be the only standard norm in the Catholic Church everywhere in the world. That is infinitely much better than Sarah's principles regarding liturgy and the Holy Mass.
Here are really important comments from Raymond Cardinal Burke himself on how the Second Vatican Council and the Novus Ordo Mass tremendously damaged the faith life of the Catholic faithful:
"In 2012, Burke said the following regarding the liturgical changes that took place after the Second Vatican Council:
There was a stripping away, a changing of the form of the rite that in my judgment was too much. You can't take a living reality, the worship of God as God has desired that we worship him, and tamper with it without doing violence and without in some way damaging the faith life of the people.'
In March 2011, Burke said that too many priests and bishops treat violations of liturgical norms as something that is unimportant, when they are actually serious abuses' that damage the faith of Catholics. He criticized a perceived lack of reverence in the way the modern liturgy is sometimes conducted, stating If we err by thinking we are the center of the liturgy, the Mass will lead to a loss of faith.'
In a 2015 interview, Burke reiterated his concern that man has become center of mass, saying that In many places the Mass became very priest centered, it was like the 'priest show.' This type of abuse leads to a loss of the sense of the sacred, taking the essential mystery out of the Mass. The reality of Christ Himself coming down on the altar to make present His sacrifice on Calvary gets lost.' Burke blamed modernization of the liturgy after the Second Vatican Council for declining Mass attendance:
In some cases it actually became hard for people to bear because of illicit insertions, foreign agendas, and imposition of the personalities of priests and congregations into the liturgy to the point that people began to think that the Mass was some sort of social activity...If one understands what the Mass truly is Christ Himself coming down from Heaven to renew the sacrifice of Calvary how could you possibly not be there on Sunday?' he asked."
In his criticism of the Second Vatican Council and the Novus Ordo Mass, and his acknowledgement of the damage that the Second Vatican Council and the Novus Ordo Mass has inflicted on the livelihoods on the Catholic faithful, he obviously favors the Tridentine Mass and Traditionalist Catholicism (both ritual and theology) as both a remedy and restoration for such massive damage that the Second Vatican Council and the Novus Ordo Mass has caused.
This is absolutely crucial because, at the end of the day, IT IS ALL ABOUT THE HOLY MASS. THE HOLY MASS IMPACTS EVERYTHING. IT IS THE LIVING BODY AND BLOOD OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. IT IS ALL ABOUT THE HOLY MASS.
Liturgy and celebration of the Holy Mass was the ultimate deciding factor as to who I prefer to be the 267th Pope, either Burke or Sarah. At the end of the day, I went with Burke. This is another reason why Raymond Cardinal Burke is the most Traditionalist, most Conservative, and most qualified candidate to be the 267th Pope. This is a major reason why I prefer Raymond Cardinal Burke to be the 267th Pope. At the end of the day, the Holy Mass is EVERYTHING, and it impacts everything in the Church and the whole world.
