February 11 marks the date of the first Apparition of the Virgin Mary to Bernadette Soubirous. In 1993, Pope John Paul II declared this day World Day of the Sick. On this day the whole world is invited to pray to Our Lady of Lourdes, in a major worldwide prayer movement. The World Day of Prayer to Our Lady of Lourdes, invites everyone to unite in prayer with all the pilgrims who will be present in the Sanctuary or joining them from their homes.  |
